REDCap1: An Introduction - March 2021

REDCap is a secure and stable web-based platform that is designed to capture research data and is available for use in University of Melbourne research free of charge. Due to REDCap licence terms, support can be offered only to University of Melbourne staff, honorary staff and students. Researchers outside of the University can access the training however and will be supplied with a login for the session.

This half‐day interactive workshop provides hands-on instructions in the development of a simple data management system and online surveys.  This course is suitable for researchers setting up a new clinical trial or survey, or for those seeking robust data acquisition, safe storage and data archiving with the ability to interrogate the database.

REDCap I is an introductory course that assumes no prior experience with the software. The session covers:

  • Setting up a REDCap project
  • Creating instruments and adding fields of various kinds
  • Basic skips AKA branching logic
  • Enabling an instrument as a survey
  • User management
  • Exporting your project data

This course is provided through collaboration with CEBU (Murdoch Children's Research Institute and University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics) and facilitated by CEBU Data Management Coordinator Luke Stevens. The University of Melbourne's REDCap Lead is David Ormiston-Smith(red-cap@unimelb.edu.au).

Please join 15 minutes earlier to set up your computer and REDCap account login. Please note that during the pandemic, these sessions will be held via zoom.
